Since we’re all on this TF journey, how do most approach the need to heal past trauma through shadow work? Books? Your own prompts or what others share?
Chart Your Path to Union
The path to union can feel lonely, confusing and downright painful.

For me, journaling has been the most powerful tool for shadow work and healing past traumas. I
Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way” has been incredibly helpful for me. Her morning pages concept really opened up my subconscious.
“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” - Carl Jung. It’s not easy facing our shadows, but I’ve found it’s the only way to truly heal and grow on this TF journey.
My journaling prompts:
“What patterns in my current connections mirror my earliest relationships?”
“When I feel triggered by my twin, what younger part of me is responding?”
“What traits in others make me feel magnetically drawn or intensely repelled?”
“How does my twin mirror the parts of myself I find hardest to accept?”
“What keeps showing up in my relationships until I learn its lesson?”
“When do I feel most authentically aligned with my soul’s purpose?”
“What boundaries do I need to honor my own energy and healing?”
“Which emotions do I tend to project onto my twin or divine counterpart?”
“What old stories am I ready to release to step into my highest timeline?”
“Where do I notice resistance when moving toward union with myself?”
Honestly, my go-to for shadow work has been binge-watching true crime shows while eating ice cream. Nothing like other people’s trauma to make you confront your own, right?
…
But seriously, I’ve found art therapy super helpful - finger painting my feelings like a toddler is surprisingly cathartic. I also like interpretive dance to express those deep-seated childhood issues. Just don’t do it in public like I did… apparently, the grocery store frowns upon impromptu trauma-healing performances in the produce section.
Have you considered using meditation to access those deeper parts of yourself where trauma resides?
Combining guided shadow work meditations with journaling afterwards can be powerful for processing and releasing old wounds. None of us want to face some of this stuff but we grow and get closer. Win-win.
Shadow work can be deeply transformative when we approach it through the lens of our energy centers.
Focusing on clearing and balancing each chakra (especially the root and sacral which often hold trauma) lets trapped emotions to surface and be released gently. As we do this inner work, our auras naturally expand and brighten.
Everyone has their own way of performing shadow work.
Some like a free-for-all approch where they explore what they feel guided to explore based on their own intuition, while others prefer something a bit more structured.
I’ve heared of a number of individuals that have had success with “The Shadow Work Workbook” by Jor-El Caraballo. Give it a try if you feel so inclined.
I wonder which is better or will it vary per person.
Did you use that book? Did it help?
Neither of them are “better” than the other.
It varries per person, as you said.
I did not use the book, as I tend to do a lot of journaling using prompts from various sources.
The ones Julia wrote above are fantastic topics to explore.
